A non-Jewish University of Exeter undergraduate says fellow students branded her a “Mossad agent,” a “baby killer” and an “Israel mouthpiece” for promoting Holocaust remembrance, Britain’s Daily Telegraph reported on Sept. 5.
Amberley Thay, 20, is a third-year history student. For roughly four years, she has advanced Holocaust education and combated antisemitism, including as a regional ambassador for the Holocaust Educational Trust.
Thay also heard antisemitic remarks on campus, including stereotypes linking Jews with money. Some students claimed that only several hundred thousand Jews were murdered during the Holocaust, rather than approximately six million.
The University of Exeter told The Daily Telegraph that it was unaware of the incidents Thay described and urged students to report discrimination or harassment. It said it regularly works with Jewish students and staff to address antisemitism and ensure a safe campus environment.
Thay said the abuse has reinforced her belief that Holocaust education and confronting antisemitism remain necessary on university campuses.
