‘It Starts With Jews, but Never Finishes With Jews’: Natan Sharansky on Why Antisemitism Must Be a Universal Concern

Human rights icon and Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) Advisory Board Chair Natan Sharansky sat down this week to answer the question: “Why should everyone care about antisemitism?”

“Antisemitism is a most ancient and deep hatred for Jews, the other,” Sharansky — who was incarcerated for nine brutal years in Soviet prisons in the 1970s and 1980s over his advocacy for the right of Jews to emigrate from the USSR — said. “It becomes a base for many other hatreds, for those who have a different skin color, different political views, different sexual orientations. Antisemitism starts with Jews, but never finishes with Jews.”
