Dear Friends,

On Sunday, we have an opportunity to stand against anti-Semitism in France following the acquittal of the murderer of Sarah Halimi. Learn more and see how you can participate below. Let your voice be heard!

A minivan driver was arrested after an intentional hit-and-run that injured five orthodox Jews in Brooklyn – the latest incident in a spate of hate crimes that have targeted people who are visibly Jewish in New York City. In Northern Ireland, Jewish gravestones were desecrated and toppled.

A proposal for a new European super football league resulted in a wave of public anti-Semitism from fans. Just prior, Dutch soccer fans chanted “Hamas, Jews to the gas,” before a match against Ajax – a team known to have many Jewish supporters. Meanwhile, the European Union announced $2 billion in funding for its new comprehensive strategy to combat anti-Semitism among member states.

CAM’s global anti-Semitism report this week highlights 41 new media reports of anti-Semitic incidents 19 incidents (46%) from the far-right, 9 incidents (22%) from the far-left, 7 incidents (17%) with Islamist motivations, and 6 incidents (15%) were unidentifiable.

Tomorrow marks Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, memorializing the 1.5 million Armenians killed by Ottoman forces in the 20th century’s first genocide. Explaining his own genocidal plans in 1939, Hitler reportedly observed that he expected to receive little pushback: “Who, after all, speaks today of the annihilation of the Armenians?”

More than a century later, even as some still deny the decimation of Armenians, CAM stands with the Armenian community and persecuted Christians everywhere. We remember the atrocities and all the murdered civilians while vowing to act today to overcome bigotry before it turns deadly.

Demand Justice for Murdered French Jew Sarah Halimi

French Jewish leaders have called for a massive public protest in Paris this Sunday (April 25th) at 2:00 PM local time. The protest comes in response to a French court’s shocking decision that Sarah Halimi’s anti-Semitic murderer will not face trial because he was high on marijuana when he killed her.

CAM and our partners are standing together to support this protest by joining it virtually.

Demonstrate your solidarity with the Halimi family and the French Jewish community by downloading this image of Sarah Halimi and posting it on social media with the hashtags #JusticeForSarah and #JeSuisSarah.

More than 1,000 anti-Semitic incidents were recorded in Berlin in 2020, an almost 20% rise from 2019, according to new data published this week by RIAS, an anti-Semitism monitoring group based in the German capital.

RIAS noted that nearly one in five of the incidents were related to the Covid-19 pandemic through “the spread of anti-Semitic conspiracy myths, perpetrator-victim reversals and Holocaust trivializations.”
