Anti-Israel protesters chanted “Long live October 7th” and “Take another soldier out” at Seattle Central College on Wednesday, the third anniversary of the Hamas-led massacre.

Demonstrators also waved Palestinian flags on the public college’s grounds.

As participants in campus walkouts moved toward Cal Anderson Park, the Seattle Police Department cited “reports of minor property damage including tagging of buildings.”

“Officers have identified the suspects and will make arrests when it is safe to do so,” the department stated. “Due to the ongoing property destruction and other reported crimes, officers have activated their body-worn video.”

Organizers had called for walkouts at middle schools, high schools and colleges statewide. Bev Redmond, chief of staff at Seattle Public Schools, told JNS that “our expectation is that students will be in school as classes are proceeding as regularly scheduled.”

The district gave schools a template for notifying families and staff that students should be present and that “absences related to protests are unexcused.”

The march was due to start at noon on the University of Washington’s Quad, where UW Jewish Alumni reported that about 20 demonstrators gathered. The group said protesters displayed signs paying tribute to Hamas terrorists and suicide bombers. Hamas has been on the U.S. list of designated terrorist organizations since 1997.
