A kosher grocery store in one of the most prominent Jewish neighborhoods of Massachusetts was targeted early Sunday morning, when vandals hurled a brick scrawled with the words “Free Palestine” through its front window.
The Butcherie, a cornerstone of Brookline’s Jewish community in the Coolidge Corner district, sustained property damage but no injuries were reported.
Surveillance footage showed at least two masked individuals approaching the store shortly after midnight and throwing the brick before fleeing the scene.
Around 1:15 AM last night, masked individuals threw a brick painted with “Free Palestine” at the only kosher grocery store in the Boston area.

“This was not simply an act of property damage, and it is not plainly vandalism,” said Brookline Police Chief Jennifer Paster. “This was a targeted, hateful message meant to intimidate a Jewish-owned business and our broader Jewish community.”
The incident is being investigated as a hate crime — highlighting the growing threat facing American Jews, as anti-Israel slogans increasingly become a smokescreen for antisemitic violence.
The Butcherie’s owners posted images of the shattered storefront and the graffiti-covered brick to social media, writing:
“This was not a protest — it was an attack on the Jewish community. Not about policy or politics, but an act meant to threaten, isolate, and target us for who we are. We are disturbed and we are saddened, but we are not shaken. We will not be silenced or intimidated.”
This is not an isolated incident. From Washington, D.C., to Boulder, Colorado, the slogan “Free Palestine” is increasingly being weaponized — not to call for peace, but to justify violence against Jews.
As Iran and its terror proxies target the Jewish state, Jews worldwide are being singled out and attacked — not for their actions, but for their identity.
The front lines of antisemitism are no longer confined to foreign battlefields — they are found in American cities, schools, synagogues, and storefronts.
Antisemitism is not a distant threat. It is here. It is now. And it must be confronted.
