Antisemitism on Board: Kosher Meal Marked With ‘Zionazi’ Reportedly Served on JetBlue Flight Amid Rising Airline Hate Incidents

A reported incident aboard a JetBlue flight — in a Jewish passenger was apparently served a kosher meal labeled with the word “Zionazi” — has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for accountability.

The image of the defaced meal was first shared by the U.S.-based group StopAntisemitism on social media.

“Whomever is responsible for this must be immediately fired,” StopAntisemitism wrote. “This is 1941 and Jews will NOT put up with this hate.”

In a statement, JetBlue said, “At JetBlue, we have zero tolerance for hate, bias, or discrimination. We are deeply disturbed by the image circulating on social media and have launched an immediate investigation to determine which flight this may have occurred on. So far, no reports or complaints have been submitted by any customers. Nonetheless, our investigation is ongoing and we have notified the authorities to assist. If we determine that any individual associated with JetBlue or our catering partners was involved, we will take swift and appropriate action.”

The incident is the latest in a disturbing pattern of antisemitic harassment in air travel, with a similar occurrence just days earlier on an Iberia Airlines flight from Buenos Aires to Madrid. On that flight, a Jewish passenger discovered “Free Palestine” written on their kosher meal tray, and others reported trays marked with the initials “FP.” The Delegation of Argentine Jewish Associations (DAIA) condemned the act and called for immediate action, leading to an apology from Iberia Airlines after the incident became public.

Iberia acknowledged the incident and assured the public it was investigating the matter, both internally and with its catering suppliers. The airline’s management told Ynet that it had taken steps to address the issue by documenting the complaints and offering assistance to affected passengers.

Both incidents underscore a growing concern about the normalization of antisemitism, particularly in public spaces, such as flights where passengers may feel vulnerable. The antisemitic labeling of kosher meals aboard JetBlue and Iberia flights reveals an urgent need for stronger policies, accountability, and visible actions from airlines to prevent hateful acts aboard their planes.
