A shocking video showing Argentine high school students chanting “Today, we burn the Jews” during a graduation trip has drawn swift condemnation, with leaders, Jewish communal groups, and members of the wider public denouncing the incident.
The footage, filmed September 10 on a Buenos Aires tour bus operated by Baxtter, shows students from Humanos School shouting the antisemitic slogan. Even more disturbing, the trip coordinator and an accompanying parent appeared to join the chant instead of intervening.
Students from Escuela Humanos in Buenos Aires 🇦🇷 chanted “Today we burn the Jews” (“Hoy quemamos Judíos”) on their graduation trip.
The school’s motto is “Building more humane people.”

The video spread after journalist Dani Lerer shared it on social media, saying it was sent directly to him. Soon after, Argentine President Javier Milei reposted the footage and called it “reprehensible.”
School and Tour Operator Issue Statements
Humanos School released a statement Sunday condemning the behavior of its students and the tour staff. It stressed that the chants do not reflect its values of “respect, inclusion, and democratic coexistence.” Moreover, the school confirmed it had contacted the Delegacion de Asociaciones Israelitas Argentinas (DAIA), Argentina’s Jewish umbrella group.
“We hereby renew our commitment against all forms of racism, antisemitism, and hate speech,” the statement read.
Baxtter, the tour operator, also issued an apology. It called the chants “abhorrent” and promised stricter oversight to prevent similar incidents. In addition, the company later posted footage of representatives attending a DAIA meeting on antisemitism. On Monday, Baxtter confirmed the dismissal of the coordinator involved and asked that he be permanently removed from the Argentinian Society of Travel Coordinators.
Legal Action Underway
The DAIA announced that its Legal Assistance Department will file a criminal complaint for incitement to persecution or hatred. The goal is to establish accountability for those involved.
Attorney Jorge Monastersky filed a complaint citing discriminatory acts under Argentina’s Law No. 23,592. As part of the filing, he requested urgent steps: preserve digital evidence, conduct forensic analysis, and summon identified participants for questioning. Furthermore, he urged X (formerly Twitter) not to remove the video until investigators secure it.
This incident highlights the persistence of antisemitic hatred in Argentina, home to Latin America’s largest Jewish population. Authorities, schools, and community leaders responded quickly. Yet the chants echo a rhetoric that has fueled violence against Jews throughout history and continues to inspire threats and attacks in the present day.
As a result, the episode underscores the urgent need for education, accountability, and vigilance to counter antisemitism before it spreads further.
