Boy George says he has lost his record label manager after refusing to back down from releasing a pro-Israel song, just days after withdrawing from a West End production.
The dispute centered on “We Will Dance Again,” which Tony Pontius declined to release through “Boy George Presents,” George’s record label.
“Due to my decision to stand up for my Jewish friends I am losing a few people from my life,” the British singer wrote on X. “Today I parted company with Tony Pontius who has run my record label BGP for a number of years.”
He said Pontius gave him no room to negotiate.
“I wanted to release ‘We Will Dance Again’ but he was unequivocal and said, ‘I want nothing to do with this song’ and I responded ‘OK, we are done,'” George wrote.
“When someone is gutless it really does not hurt to say goodbye,” he added. “My faith in humanity will not diminish and the truth will always win. I will release it!”

The split came days after George withdrew from the London Palladium revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, where he had been cast as King Herod. His manager, Paul Kemsley, announced the decision without giving a reason, saying only that George had concluded “it was right to step aside.”
The song “We Will Dance Again” pays tribute to victims murdered in Hamas’ attack on the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023, while rejecting accusations that Israel perpetrated a genocide in Gaza. It also criticizes what George portrays as condemnation of Israel while overlooking Jewish victims, arguing that standing with Jews is a matter of basic humanity rather than courage.
