CAIR K-12 Guide Linked to Curriculum Blaming 9/11 on US Support for Israel, Recommending Bin Laden Manifesto

On Aug. 24, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) linked its K-12 back-to-school guide to a curriculum blaming 9/11 on U.S. support for Israel and recommending Osama bin Laden’s antisemitic manifesto.

The organization removed the link the following day.

The 16-page guide linked to a page titled “Muslim Studies Curriculum.” The material presented U.S. support for Israel, the Gulf War, and America’s military presence across the Middle East as motivations for the attacks.

Among its suggested high school readings was bin Laden’s “Letter to America.” The manifesto states, “Behind them stand the Jews, who control your policies, media and economy.”

The curriculum described the perpetrators as “a group self-identifying as Al Quaeda hailing from the mountains of Afghanistan” without calling them terrorists.

The guide also promoted the false “genocide” charge against Israel while omitting the Hamas-led Oct. 7th massacre, in which terrorists murdered 1,200 people, including dozens of children, in southern Israel.

Nicholas Haros Jr., whose mother, Frances, died at the World Trade Center on 9/11, condemned the material as “evil propaganda.”

“Israel had nothing to do with 9/11,” Haros said. “The further we get from 9/11, this new generation of kids will learn to blame our country. These kids are going to be poisoned — and that’s the intent.”

Moshe Spern, president of United Jewish Teachers (UJT), issued a similar warning.

“CAIR just nationalized a curriculum that refuses to call the 9/11 hijackers terrorists, assigns Osama bin Laden’s ‘Letter to America’ as high-school reading, and coaches five-year-olds on Gaza without ever naming Hamas or October 7,” Spern said. “That is not inclusion — it’s dangerous propaganda.”

Federal prosecutors identified CAIR as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Hamas terror-financing case two decades ago. Although CAIR was never charged, a federal judge found “at least a prima facie case” of its involvement in a conspiracy to support Hamas.
