CAM Director of Hispanic Outreach Shay Salamon Visits Panama Ahead of Second Annual Central America-Israel Forum
Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) Director of Hispanic Outreach Shay Salamon recently concluded a four-day visit to the Republic of Panama where he held a series of high-level meetings to plan the second-annual Central America-Israel Forum, which is expected to be held in the country later this year, on a date to be announced soon.
During his time in Panama, Salamon met with representatives of the Office of the Presidency, Latin American Parliament (PARLATINO) Secretary Elias Castillo, members of the Panama-Israel Friendship League, Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) Congressman Warren Oscar Beitia, the executive team of B’nai B’rith Panama, President of the Evangelical Alliance of Panama Pastor Prisiano Gil, and retired New York Yankees Hall of Fame pitcher Mariano Rivera.
CAM would like to thank Emilio Gracias of Guatemala and William Vanderdys from the Rivera Foundation for coordinating the agenda.
Last year, the first-ever Central America-Israel Forum — hosted by the Republic of Guatemala — brought together top leaders from across Central America to stand against antisemitism and unite in a powerful show of support for Israel — highlighting the common values and interests underpinning the Jewish state’s relationships in Central America, and further cementing its strategic alliances in the region.
Officials from seven Central American countries participated in the forum, and the keynote speaker was Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei, with Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Yair Lapid also addressing the gathering.
