The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) recently participated in an annual International Holocaust Remembrance Day commemoration organized by the PAZZ Christian Zionist Movement in Mexico City.

The forum, a tradition dating back two decades, was held this year at the National Museum of Anthropology in the Mexican capital, with more than 400 people participating.

Speakers included a Holocaust survivor, representatives of PAZZ and the Simon Wiesenthal Center, the Israeli ambassador to Mexico, and CAM Director of Hispanic Affairs Shay Salamon.

In his remarks, Salamon, who is based in Uruguay, shared an antisemitic incident he experienced on his flight to Mexico, and called for new approaches to preserving the memory of the Holocaust and fighting the growing global trend of Holocaust trivialization.

CAM was presented with a special recognition by PAZZ for its participation in the event.

While in Mexico, Salamon also gave a lecture to pastors and other spiritual leaders on the current situation in the Middle East and the dangers of antisemitism.

Furthermore, Shay held meetings with key CAM partners, including the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem director in Mexico, and was invited to join the annual “Prayer for Mexico” organized by Kingdom Life USA and Mexico.

“I left the visit strengthened to see the support of the evangelical communities for Israel,” Salamon said. “Many pastors have reached out to me asking for forgiveness for Mexico not doing enough to express support for Israel’s right to self-defense, as well as on fighting the rising phenomenon of antisemitism.”

CAM’s outreach in Latin America began more than three years ago, and since then it has worked diligently to build meaningful partnerships and friendships with influential leaders, lawmakers, diplomats, community organizations, and civil society activists from a diverse assortment of religious, political and cultural backgrounds in the region to combat antisemitism together.

During this time, CAM en Español has emerged as a key player in the battle against Jew-hatred in Latin America, with a growing coalition involved in impactful activities in countries including Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Panama, Guatemala, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Mexico, among others.

CAM en Español has organized regional summits hosted by Costa Rica in 2024, Uruguay in 2023, Panama in 2022, and Guatemala in 2021.
