The Combat Antisemitism Movement CAM works hand-in-hand with municipal and law enforcement authorities on a daily basis to secure and nurture Jewish life in cities across the globe.
As part of this program, CAM hosted a specialized training session on Monday for more than 300 New York City Police Department (NYPD) officers.
The seminar focused on teaching how to recognize and address antisemitism in its many contemporary forms and offered strategies and tools to counter it.
Among the presenters was CAM Director of Interfaith Outreach and Engagement EJ Kimball.
“I thank you for being here to better understand what’s going on, so you will be able to identify when there are true threats at protests — not at peaceful protests, but at ones that include calls for imminent violence against others,” Kimball said in his remarks.
“It is important to note that symbols and slogans on their own may be explained away, but when you see the convergence of the symbols and slogans all together, like the red hands and calls to ‘Globalize the Intifada,’ it’s very clear these are calls for attacks against Jews, Israel, and all those who support them,” Kimball added.
Another featured speaker was New York City Deputy Mayor of Public Safety Kaz Daughtry.
CAM is grateful to all the NYPD officers who participated in the training session and commends to New York City Mayor Eric Adams for his leadership and commitment to the collective effort against antisemitism.
Similar CAM-0rganized law enforcement training sessions have been held in Ohio, Florida, and Virginia over the past year, as well as a previous NYPD forum.
