CAM Participates in Hanukkah Menorah-Lighting Ceremony in Punta Del Este, Uruguay
The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) was represented on Sunday at the public menorah-lighting ceremony in Punta del Este, Uruguay, marking the final night of Hanukkah.Â
The event, held annually for the past eight years, was organized by the Jewish Community of Punta del Este and the New Israeli Congregation of Montevideo (NCI), both CAM partners, and Punta del Este Mayor Javier Carvallal and CAM Director of Hispanic Affairs Shay Salamon were invited to light candles.
NCI Rabbi Daniel Dolinsky called the event a “celebration of joy,” noting, “We come to celebrate the miracle. That after more than 2,000 years we continue to celebrate. That is the miracle of the Hanukkah party, being happy with who we are and respecting others.”
CIPEMU Executive Director Fabian Schamis also spoke and congratulated the participants.
CAM en Español wishes a happy Hanukkah to the Jewish people worldwide and looks forward to continuing to spread light to combat hatred, bigotry, and prejudice in 2023!
