CAM CEO Sacha Roytman sent a letter to Twitch Chief Customer Trust Officer Angela Hession on Wednesday demanding that the popular interactive live-streaming platform rescind an honor it recently gave to a user with a history of online antisemitic expressions.

On behalf of the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM), a coalition engaging more than 850 partner organizations and five million people worldwide, I am writing to express my deep concern regarding a recent decision made by Twitch to award streamer Morgan “Frogan” the title of “Legendary Woman of the Year.”
While I understand that Twitch holds the prerogative to recognize exceptional individuals within its community, I believe that it is crucial to uphold certain ethical standards and values, especially given the platform’s immense influence and reach.
The individual in question has utilized their platform on Twitch to propagate dangerous and harmful antisemitic rhetoric, particularly the justification of the barbaric October 7th massacre in Israel perpetrated by Hamas, a U.S.-designated terror organization. It is deeply troubling that Twitch, as the largest gaming platform with hundreds of millions of users, many of whom are children or teenagers, has chosen to endorse and amplify such harmful messages through its official channels.
I am gravely concerned about the impact that this award may have, not only on the perception of Twitch as a responsible and ethical platform but also on the safety and well-being of vulnerable members of Jewish communities worldwide. It is imperative that Twitch reassess its policies regarding antisemitism and take immediate action to rectify this situation.
I urge Twitch to reconsider its decision to award this individual and to withdraw the title of “Legendary Woman of the Year.” Furthermore, I implore Twitch to implement stricter guidelines and procedures to prevent the promotion of hate speech, misinformation, and harmful ideologies on its platform.
I sincerely hope that Twitch will take this matter seriously and demonstrate its commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and responsible online environment for all its users.
