Highlighting the impactful pro-Israel advocacy efforts of the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) across the globe in the aftermath of the October 7th massacre, the Zionist Council in Israel has recognized CAM CEO Sacha Roytman as one of its “Heroes of Israeli Society” for 2024.

Roytman — one of 12 honorees announced on Sunday — was chosen in the “Public Diplomacy and the Struggle for Israel” category, joined by activist Lorena Khateeb.

“I’m thrilled to receive the ‘Heroes of Israeli Society’ award from the Zionist Council in Israel, and I’m so proud of the wonderful work of the Combat Antisemitism Movement over the past year,” Roytman said. “It is a great honor for me to be recognized alongside such inspirational figures as Hanoch Daum, Almog Boker, Professor Yifat Bitton, the Hatikva 6 band, 10/7 Testimony project, and Pitchon Lev organization, as well as so many others who are acting day and night for the betterment of Israeli society.”

“I must give a huge thank you to CAM’s fantastic and dedicated staff, and our partners across the globe,” he added. “Our joint accomplishments prove that together we can change reality.”

The Zionist Council in Israel is the active, educational arm of the World Zionist Organization in Israel’s Department for Israel and Holocaust Commemoration Worldwide.

The award selection committee was chaired by Israel Prize winner Miriam Peretz, and members included former Health Minister Yael German, Head of the Mateh Asher Regional Council Moshe Davidovich, and Vice Chair of the World Zionist Organization Gil Segal.

“The ongoing war has presented Israeli society with unprecedented challenges ,” said attorney Oz Haim, Director General of the Zionist Council in Israel. “Yet there are heroes among us who don’t despair, who contribute, who help and support, and who boost the Israeli spirit and strengthen us all. It is on us to thank them, and remind everyone how much strength and power there is in Israeli society, from which we can draw optimism and hope for the rehabilitation and renewed growth of our wonderful country.”

In addition to its public diplomacy activities, including the “Voices for Truth: Influencers United Against Antisemitism” summit in New York City last July, CAM has directly supported and collaborated with dozens of Israeli organizations involved in response, recovery, and rebuilding initiatives since October 7th.

Among other projects, CAM established the Israeli Emergency Support Fund, which raised nearly $4 million — money that has been distributed to more than 60 entities and individuals, meeting the needs of hundreds of thousands of Israelis who were impacted by the events of October 7th.

Last June, four CAM-backed volunteer organizations were recognized by Israeli President Isaac Herzog for their activities.
