Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) CEO Sacha Roytman issued the following statement on Wednesday night’s ramming attack at the Chabad headquarters in New York City:
“New York is the epicenter of the escalating antisemitism crisis in the United States, and the ramming of the Chabad headquarters was only the latest grim example of the growing normalization of violence targeting Jews. When civic leaders refuse to denounce the ‘Globalize the Intifada’ ideology, scenes like last night’s in Brooklyn, all too familiar from the Middle East, are the inevitable consequence.”
“According to CAM’s new annual data, more Jews were killed in hate-motivated attacks globally in 2025 than in any single year in recent decades. Miraculously, Tuesday’s attack resulted in no deaths or injuries. However, without firm action by authorities at all levels of power, we fear 2026 could be worse than last year, as we see an exploding proliferation of antisemitic incitement across the ideological spectrum.”
“Election season is over, and Mayor Zohran Mamdani, regardless of his animus for Israel, now has a duty to protect all New Yorkers, including its embattled Jewish community. New York Jews were victimized in hate crimes more than all other minority groups in the city combined last year. We call on the mayor to use his platform to speak out forcefully against every form of antisemitism and deploy the needed municipal resources to secure Jewish lives and institutions.”
A 36-year-old man from New Jersey rammed his car four times into the back entrance of Chabad-Lubavitch’s global center in Crown Heights on January 28, 2026. Inside, hundreds of Jews were gathered for a major celebration.
