The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM), in partnership with the Jewish Institute for Liberal Values (JILV), today announced the launch of the “Teach Diversity, Not Hate” petition campaign. This timely initiative calls on decision-makers at all levels — from legislators to school boards — to revise ethnic studies curricula that promote divisiveness and anti-Israel bias, and instead implement more inclusive educational approaches.
“We are deeply concerned by the proliferation of radical ethnic studies curricula that falsely label Jews and Israel as colonialist oppressors,” said Sacha Roytman, CEO of CAM. “These narratives not only breed hostility and hatred toward America’s valued ally, the democratic state of Israel, but also villify and endanger Jewish Americans, who are facing unprecedented threat levels in the aftermath of October 7th. We must act now to ensure children receive an education that fosters understanding, curiosity, and appreciation for the diverse tapestry of cultures that make up the United States.”
The “Teach Diversity, Not Hate” campaign is a response to the growing trend of ethnic studies programs that have taken root in California and are now spreading to other states and regions. These curricula often promote an oppressor/oppressed paradigm, which misrepresents history and perpetuates harmful stereotypes.
“Education should be a tool to unite, not divide,” said David Bernstein, Founder and CEO of JILV. “Instead of pushing divisive ideologies, we must advocate for alternative approaches to ethnic studies that embrace a well-rounded exploration of the American story. By celebrating the contributions of diverse communities and encouraging critical thinking, we can create an inclusive learning environment that empowers our children to become engaged and informed citizens.”
The petition calls on cabinet secretaries, governors, elected officials, superintendents, school administrators, and educators to take immediate action to oppose the implementation of radical ethnic studies curricula and support the development of educational materials that foster understanding and respect for all communities.
To join the “Teach Diversity, Not Hate” campaign, concerned citizens can sign the petition HERE. The goal is to collect at least 10,000 signatures, which will be shared with decision-makers across the country to empower parents and community members to advocate for positive change in their local school systems.
