A suspect in a passing vehicle fired a gel pellet gun at passersby in Toronto on Thursday, deliberately targeting individuals visibly identifiable as Jewish, police said.

The Toronto Police Service said the victims sustained minor injuries, and the suspect then fled the scene.

On Saturday, authorities released footage of the vehicle and confirmed they were investigating the case as a hate-motivated offense.

The United Jewish Appeal Federation of Greater Toronto said the attack signaled a broader escalation.

“There can be no ambiguity about the motive,” the organization stated. “These targeted attacks are intended to threaten our community and force us to hide our identity. It won’t work. We are resilient, strong, and determined to live our Jewish lives freely and openly.”

Meanwhile, last weekend, a suspect assaulted a Jewish man in Vaughan after attempting to force entry into a synagogue. The following day, someone hurled a stone through the window of a Jewish-owned store, Aleph Bet Judaica.
