East & West Coast Neighborhoods Vandalized with Anti-Semitic Graffiti

According to ABC News San Diego, neighbors in the Hillcrest neighborhood woke up this past Wednesday to find their cars and homes covered in anti-Semitic graffiti.

That same day, a Flatbush home in Brooklyn, NY was found covered in swastikas and other anti-Semitic messages. This report comes shortly after two men in Westchester County, NY were arrested for painting similar messages targeting Jews and other minority groups on Westchester county-owned property.

While it is unclear whether the graffiti in San Diego was random, or a targeted hate crime, acts like this hit too close to home for many members of the Jewish community. Doctor Barry Kaplan, whose grandparents perished in the Holocaust, told reporters this graffiti is reminiscent of Nazi Germany and is “very offensive.”
