Duncan MacDonald of Clay County, near Jacksonville, Florida, was indicted over the weekend following his Sept. 19 arrest over Instagram clips vowing violence against Jews.
In one recording cited in an FBI affidavit, a male speaker says, “You know you need these because we’re going to hunt Jews out here. We’re going to take them out because the Austrian painter was right.”
The posts also feature firearms, tactical gear, and a flamethrower.
Investigators said MacDonald used the word “Shabby services” in text messages as code for Shabbat prayers.
Agents matched images from the footage to MacDonald’s driver’s license photograph. Data supplied by Meta and T-Mobile connected him to the profile and associated phone number, and his car turned up in Middleburg near the time he was apprehended.
The Secure Community Network (SCN) and Northeast Florida’s Jewish federation flagged the material to authorities, prompting the federal probe. The federation’s chief executive praised how quickly MacDonald was taken into custody, calling it a sign of strength in the community’s safety work.
SCN CEO Michael Masters credited cooperation among organizations with protecting communities and building resilience. He said those efforts helped ensure “security is never a barrier to Jewish life.”
