Iranian Bot Army Flooded Social Media With Antisemitic Propaganda During Recent War With Israel, Report Finds

A new report from Israel’s Diaspora Ministry reveals that Iran orchestrated a massive disinformation campaign on X during the June 2025 Israel-Iran war — flooding the platform with antisemitic conspiracy theories and anti-Israel propaganda aimed at U.S. audiences in an effort to erode American support for Israel.

According to the report, which can be read in full HERE, Iranian-linked operatives ran a coordinated bot network responsible for up to 60% of the X traffic on key wartime hashtags.

The posts blamed the so-called “Jewish lobby” for dragging the United States into war, labeled Israel a “terrorist state,” and revived classic antisemitic tropes about Jewish control over American politics.

Investigators assessed the network was likely run by actors affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The fake accounts circulated AI-generated images of alleged Israeli atrocities and amplified fringe voices hostile to the Jewish state.

Most of the inauthentic profiles were created within the past 18 months and posted at an inhuman rate, thousands of times per day, engaging primarily through likes and reposts — a common indicator of bot activity.

Officials cautioned that without more robust content moderation and bot detection, social media will remain a “force multiplier” for Iranian psychological warfare efforts.
