The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) was honored to participate this week in the Liberty University Center for Israel‘s inaugural Annual Gala and Summit.

The keynote speaker at the forum, held on the Liberty University campus in Lynchburg, Virginia, was Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Dr. Yechiel Leiter.

CAM was represented by Director of Christian Outreach and Engagement EJ Kimball.

Kimball joined a panel discussion on the topic of religious freedom in Israel. Other panelists included Generation Zion Founder Luke Moon and Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs South Europe Department Director George Deek.

“Israel is an amazing country,” Kimball said. “Even though it’s the homeland of the Jewish people, its Declaration of Independence guarantees that all can practice their religion freely. Religious authorities and the government go to great lengths to ensure that.”

He went on to recall, “At a Shabbat dinner about a dozen years ago, a group of Turkish graduate students were visiting Israel. When asked what was the most inspiring part of their trip, they all answered ‘to see that Muslims are treated equally and respectfully in Jerusalem.’ They noted the propaganda in Turkey that Muslims were discriminated against in Jerusalem by Israel. But they saw the truth with their own eyes. There is so much misinformation out there about Israel. It’s important to go and see things for yourself.”

Liberty University’s Center for Israel was established last year to “encourage a biblical understanding of Israel’s role within God’s redemptive purposes and to promote thoughtful reflection on the relationship between the church, the Jewish people, and the nations.”

The center is led by Director Dr. Troy W. Temple, Dean of Liberty University’s Rawlings School of Divinity, and Senior Founding Fellow Dr. Johnnie Moore, a member of CAM’s U.S. Advisory Board.
