A synagogue in Cottbus, Germany, was defaced before dawn on Monday, with vandals painting a swastika on its facade.
Brandenburg state police said this was the second antisemitic incident at the site in four days.
The earlier incident occurred before dawn on Friday. Officers responding to reports of fireworks discovered what police described as an “antisemitic inscription” on the synagogue. Authorities believe the two cases are connected and have transferred both to state security. Police are searching for suspects.
Officials said crews could not immediately remove the swastika, even with assistance from the fire department. Its removal was scheduled for later Monday.

Prosor described the incidents as the “reality for Jews in 2026.” He said the use of English underscored how deeply the “globalized intifada” has taken hold on German streets.
“Security authorities must dismantle these global, decentralized terror networks instead of merely monitoring them,” he noted. “It is only a matter of time before these actors carry out attacks.”
