The Dutch House of Representatives has approved a motion calling on the government to ban the Muslim Brotherhood and its affiliated organizations.

The measure — initiated by the right-wing Party for Freedom (PVV) led by Geert Wilders — was passed by a 76-vote margin.

The motion cited a French government report published last May that warned of long-term ideological and institutional influence of the Muslim Brotherhood. The report called the Muslim Brotherhood a “threat to national cohesion” in France and urged action to stop the spread of “political Islamism.”

Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) Director of European Affairs Shannon Seban said this week’s vote in the Dutch parliament’s lower house reflected a “growing recognition across Europe that ideological networks linked to extremism can pose long-term risks to democratic institutions.”

She added that the Dutch government now faced a critical test. “This motion must be followed by concrete legal action,” she said. “Addressing these challenges requires clarity and the willingness to act within the rule of law.”
