A Sydney court convicted and fined a man $1,500 after he wore a T-shirt bearing a swastika outside a hearing of Australia’s Royal Commission into Antisemitism and Social Cohesion on May 6..
Police ordered Ian Minus, 68, to move on after officers spotted the shirt, which carried the banned Nazi symbol alongside the slogan “Antisemitism. Proud to be accused. Speak up!” Victims of the antisemitic Bondi terror attack were giving evidence before the Royal Commission at the time.
Minus was arrested later that day at Manly Police Station. Two charges were later dropped, and he pleaded guilty in June to knowingly displaying a Nazi symbol in public without reasonable excuse.
