Graffiti referencing an Israeli defense contractor and a designated terrorist organization appeared on a Manhattan Capital One branch on Monday, alongside smashed windows.
Photographs showed the messages “Drop Elbit” and “Pal Action” painted in red on the bank’s doors. The NYPD said an unidentified individual hurled a brick into a window at 7:40 a.m.P
Police were investigating the attack as “possible bias criminal mischief.”
The graffiti targeted Israeli defense contractor Elbit and referenced Palestine Action, a British group whose members carried out a violent raid on an Elbit facility in the UK in 2024. The British and American governments have both designated the group a terrorist organization.
Its American offshoot became Unity of Fields in 2024, although its relationship with the British organization remains unclear. The British group’s accounts on social media and Telegram are suspended in the U.S., and no claim of responsibility had surfaced at the time of reporting.
New York City Council Speaker Julie Menin called the incident “deeply disturbing and unacceptable” and urged police to determine whether it constituted an antisemitic hate crime.
The vandalism and destruction at the Capital One branch on 86th Street is deeply disturbing and unacceptable.
I have been in contact with the NYPD regarding this incident and have urged an immediate investigation, including whether this is a potential antisemitic hate crime.
There is no place for hate, intimidation or violence in New York City.

On Sunday, Calla Walsh, an extremist anti-Zionist activist based in Lebanon, posted an “anonymous submission” showing saboteurs covering security cameras in paint and using power drills to damage and disable the card readers at a subway station’s turnstiles. Flyers left behind alleged that the manufacturer of the transit equipment has ties to the Jewish state.
Walsh, who co-founded the American offshoot, has said she no longer belongs to Unity of Fields. She was arrested in connection with vandalism at an Elbit facility. The U.S. is also seeking the extradition of another co-founder, Fergie Chambers, from Spain.

Last week, a group of activists disabled the OMNY readers at the BQ Church Avenue station in Brooklyn with an automatic center punch and drill. They opened the gate so people can ride for free, and painted the cameras to protect themselves and fellow riders… pic.twitter.com/WsbZUS4v4X
