Montreal’s Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom was targeted again late Thursday night, less than six months after a firebombing.
Several windows were damaged in what Jewish groups described as possible pellet gunfire.
Montreal police, who are investigating, and Federation CJA’s Community Security Network responded after receiving an alert. No injuries were reported.
The Reform congregation, founded in 1882, was firebombed in June.
“Enough is enough. This must stop,” Federation CJA and the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs said in a joint statement Friday. “The Montreal Jewish community is tired of fearing for its safety and the safety of its children.”
“Based on the information we currently have, there is no active threat to the community at this time,” they added. “Nevertheless, in a climate of rising antisemitism, we take this kind of incident extremely seriously.”
The groups urged community members to contact authorities if they noticed anything suspicious.
