October 2020 Saw A Flurry of Adoptions of the IHRA Definition of Anti-Semitism

In October 2020, seventeen countries, regional and local governments, universities and civic society organizations pledged to fight Jew-hatred by adopting the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism, making October one of the largest accelerations of IHRA adoptions in recent years.

As one of the most effective tools to fight contemporary anti-Semitism, increased adoption of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism provides a gust of hope for Jewish communities everywhere and inclusive societies in general.

As anti-Semitism increases and takes on new forms, a universal definition is crucial to effectively combat it. In October those who have pledge to fight anti-Jewish prejudice include the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Republic of Albania, the Canada’s largest province – Ontario, the Global Imans Council, several football (soccer) teams, universities and municipalities. Watch the video below for a comprehensive view of the IHRA adoptions in October.
