Open Display of Terror Group Flags at Gothenburg Protest Draws CAM Call for Action by Swedish Government

Demonstrators in the southern Swedish city of Gothenburg openly carried flags of Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) — all European Union-designated terrorist groups — at a protest last weekend.

Images of former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, the October 7th massacre mastermind who was killed by Israeli troops in Gaza in 2024, and a banner bearing the slogan “Death, Death to the IDF” were also seen in the crowd, which included children among the marchers.

CAM has sent letters to Swedish government representatives seeking clarifications on what actions have been taken in response to the demonstration.

“In particular, we would like to understand whether the public display of symbols associated with designated terrorist organizations is being investigated, and what measures are being taken to combat antisemitic incitement and prevent the glorification of terrorism,” CAM said.

CAM CEO Sacha Roytman posted on X, “This is Gothenburg, Sweden. It used to be a nice city. Today it hosts open support for terrorism. At an antisemitic, anti-Western demonstration, we monitored Hamas, PFLP, and Islamic Jihad flags, along with pictures of Sinwar and more. How could a city, a nation of freedom, fall so fast and so deep? The worst part: young Swedish children marching in antisemitic rallies, surrounded by Hamas propaganda, in a European city. My friends, call this whatever you want. What I see is radical Islamist colonialism.”
