A man carrying a Palestinian flag ran onto the field at Yankee Stadium on Friday night, disrupting a game that fell on the 25th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.
Wearing a red, white and blue jersey reading “No Kings,” he ran from left field toward center at exactly 9:11 p.m., in the seventh inning of the Yankees-Mets game.
Police and stadium security moved to intercept him. He broke past several officials before three of them wrestled him down, handcuffed him, and led him away.
The crowd booed loudly. Some threw drinks and cans in his direction, while others chanted “USA” as he was taken out.
Authorities identified the man on Saturday as Kelly Marcucci of Long Island, New York. The NYPD said he faced two charges after his arrest, a misdemeanor count of interfering with a professional sporting event and a violation for trespassing.
