Real Madrid supporters chanted “Jew that I see, Jew that I hit” and gave Nazi salutes near Bernabéu Stadium in the Spanish capital shortly before the powerhouse soccer club’s Champions League match against Inter Milan on Tuesday.
Multiple videos posted to social media captured the antisemitic display as fans gathered before kickoff.
The episode has revived concerns about extremist elements within Real Madrid’s fan base.
The club faced a similar controversy last February, when a fan performed a Nazi salute inside Bernabéu Stadium. Security personnel identified him and removed him from the stadium. Real Madrid then requested that proceedings begin to revoke his fan club membership.
Following that incident, the club condemned conduct that incited hatred and violence in sports and wider society.
