Three men attacked a 41-year-old man wearing a Star of David necklace in the Bavarian city of Erlangen early Sunday morning, in what police were investigating as a possible antisemitic hate crime.
The attackers fled before officers arrived. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to a hospital.
The assault occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m.
Bavarian police said Monday they were investigating whether the victim was targeted because he was wearing the visible Jewish symbol.
Authorities are pursuing the case as aggravated assault.
