Three Israeli tourists were assaulted on Monday on the Thai island of Koh Samui after they were overheard speaking Hebrew.
The Israelis were at a bar when several French tourists confronted them. The suspects reportedly pursued the group into a bathroom, forced the door open, and demanded money.
The encounter quickly escalated into violence. All three Israelis sustained heavy blows, particularly to the ribs and torso. Two were treated in hospital due to the seriousness of their injuries, Israeli media outlets reported.
Authorities have not released additional information, and Israel’s Foreign Ministry has yet to issue a public statement on the incident.
