Tom Watson, Former Deputy Leader of Labour, Speaks out Against Anti-Semitism in the UK Labour Party

The Jewish Chronicle reported that Tom Watson, a former member of Parliament in the United Kingdom and the former Deputy Leader of the Labour party, recently spoke out about his leave from politics, citing anti-Semitism as one of his main reasons.

Too many of the former leader’s close friends were frightened about the prospect of the Labour Party winning the past election, for himself to feel comfortable continuing in his role.

Watson claimed that he was never able to fully come to terms with the fact that MP Luciana Berger was bullied out of the party for being Jewish. Watson also revealed that much of the anti-Israel campaigning in the party often crossed the line into blatant anti-Semitic discourse that was both vicious, and uncompromising.
