Two Jewish men were seriously wounded on Wednesday in a stabbing attack in the Golders Green neighborhood of London, England, home to one of the United Kingdom’s most established Jewish communities.
Shomrim patrol volunteers intervened and subdued the 45-year-old assailant. Police later arrived and arrested the suspect on suspicion of attempted murder.
The two victims, a man in his 70s and another in his 30s, were first treated at the scene by Hatzola paramedics before being transported to a hospital, where they were reportedly in stable condition.

Later on Wednesday, police officially designated the stabbing as a terrorist attack.
According to the SITE Intelligence Group, the shadowy Iran-linked terrorist group Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia (“The Islamic Movement of the Companions of the Right”) claimed responsibility for the attack. “Zionists were targeted by our lone wolves in the Golders Green area of London,” the group was quoted as saying in an online post.
British journalist Jonathan Harounoff, who witnessed the aftermath of the attack, described a reality that has become all too familiar. “Not a normal existence for British Jews here in 2026, or any year,” he said. “Jewish communities in England are under attack. There have been enough wake up calls.”
Another stabbing in Golders Green this morning. I found out about it not by seeing it on the news, but by having breakfast at a Kosher restaurant in Golders Green that’s interrupted by more than a dozen police cars, ambulances, multiple helicopters, commotion. In a statement, CAM CEO Sacha Roytman said, “This is not random violence. This is open season on Jews.”
Roytman emphasized, “This is a defining moment. The question is whether those in power will act now, or wait until the next attack makes the cost of inaction further undeniable.”
The stabbing was only the latest in a recent series of escalating attacks in the UK and across Europe, including the torching of four Jewish ambulances in Golders Green last month. Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia has taken credit for many of these incidents.
Last October, two Jewish worshipers were murdered in ramming and stabbing attack outside a synagogue in Manchester, England, during Yom Kippur services. The attacker — 35-year-old Jihad Al-Shamie, a British citizen of Syrian descent, who was shot dead at the scene by police — had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group.
