A UK Green Party WhatsApp chat featured a local official affirming that he wanted Israel eliminated, while other participants discussed “killing Zionists” and described antisemitism as “wrong but understandable,” The Times of London reported on Sunday.
Green Party member Sophus Magill created the group, called “Greens Against Imperialism,” which activists reportedly used to organize and discuss foreign policy.
Asked whether he wanted Israel “wiped off the map,” Magill replied, “Yes, I would like that.”
In another exchange, one participant portrayed British Jews as a tool for Israel in the UK, calling them a “brilliant weapon” for the country.
Another participant replied that an extreme anti-Zionist position could mean supporting “killing Zionists,” which the person called “wrong but not necessarily racist.”
The same participant described being “anti Jews” and “lumping all Jews in with the majority of Israeli Jews as Genociders” as “wrong but understandable.”
A Green Party spokesperson declined to address the messages directly, telling The Times that the party did not comment on internal forums or WhatsApp discussions outside official party channels.
