Director of European Affairs Oriana Marie Krüger represented the Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) this week at the European Jewish Association‘s annual policy conference, held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The two-day event — featuring speeches, panel discussions, and site visits — was held under the banner of “Fighting Back.”

“We meet in emergency mode,” EJA Chairman and Founder Rabbi Menachem Margolin said in his opening remarks. “The situation affecting our communities is the worst it has been since the Second World War. We have been warning our governments about rising antisemitism. And the flood has arrived.”

Among the other speakers on the first day was European Commission Coordinator on Combating Antisemitism and Fostering Jewish Life Katharina Von Schnurbein, who spoke about the EU’s Strategy on Combating Antisemitism and Fostering Jewish Life, first unveiled in 2021.

Site visits on the second day included the Portuguese Synagogue, National Holocaust Museum and Hollandsche Schouwburg Deportation Center in the Jewish Cultural Quarter, and Anne Frank House.

The conference concluded with the passing of a resolution outlining a clear plan of action against antisemitism, including creating an online reporting mechanism for antisemitic incidents linked to law enforcement, advocating for comprehensive police training, and promoting a zero-tolerance policy on violent protests.

The resolution — which can be read in full HERE — also demanded that European governments accept the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism.
