Nearly two dozen community members gathered on Tuesday evening at Third Space at Shaarei Tfiloh in Baltimore, Maryland, for a Black-Jewish Unity Dinner Forum.

The event was co-facilitated by Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) African-American Alliance Manager Dazia Wallerson, in partnership with the Leap Forward Interfaith Unity Series and Jews of Color Mishpacha Project.

The purpose of the forum was for participants to engage in meaningful dialogue about division and connection, build understanding and unity, explore ways to combat racism and antisemitism together, and create ongoing opportunities to revitalize and deepen Black-Jewish relations.

“We discussed the opportunities we have as global citizens and the work as community members right in our backyard of Baltimore,” Wallerson said. “People came alive. They shared, they listened, and they leaned in. We discussed the common values we hold and the values needed to be in shared society across our diversities.”

“What emerged,” she emphasized, “was a recognition that we are not alone. It also sparked a collective hunger for more, more spaces to connect, more opportunities to celebrate each other’s holidays and traditions, and a real commitment to centering joy and prioritizing relationships as part of how we do this work.”
