The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) expressed strong shock and condemnation following Monday’s attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego in which three people were murdered by a pair of gunmen.
“We are horrified by the heinous shooting attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego,” a CAM statement said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. Religious hatred and violence have no place in American society.”

CAM Chief Government Affairs Officer Lisa Katz commented on Tuesday, “I am horrified by yesterday’s murderous attack on the Islamic Center of San Diego. Three innocent men were killed in what authorities are investigating as a hate crime — a security guard, a beloved community elder who had been part of the center since 1986, and a man recognized for saving others during the attack itself.
“Those of us who fight antisemitism know this truth — hate does not discriminate,” she added. “When a mosque is targeted, every house of worship is threatened. We stand with the San Diego Muslim community in grief and in solidarity.”
