IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism Adoptions

In recent years, the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism has emerged as the global “gold standard” in the collective effort against rising contemporary Jew-hatred, in all its manifestations.

The definition’s far-reaching impact is rooted in the broad-based consensus that has formed around it, with more than 1,100 entities worldwide adopting or endorsing it as an essential tool to delineate what constitutes prejudiced behavior toward the Jewish people, with the following countries and U.S. states among them.

We are deeply shocked and outraged by the antisemitic attack on our close friend, @alexryvchin , the head of the Jewish community of Australia. The vile attempt to burn his home, and smear red paint on the walls, was a targeted act of terror against him and his family simply for being Jewish. This hatred is intolerable and demands immediate action. We stand with Alex and his family during this horrifying time.
A Pro-Palestinian Activist Vandalizes Netanyahu’s Statue at Wax Museum in Mexico.

This video was reported earlier today by @n12news: The activist, wearing a mask, struck the wax statue of Prime Minister Netanyahu with a hammer at the museum, poured red paint “representing the blood of Palestinians” onto the statue, and knocked it to the ground.

We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to hear of the passing of Olga Meshoe Washington.

@olliemewash was a tireless advocate for Israel and the Jewish community. She led impactful initiatives to promote connections between Jews and people of color, and fought relentlessly against the apartheid narrative. After recently being diagnosed with Lupus, she tragically passed away this morning. Olga leaves behind her husband @joshwashibsi and two young sons.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this incredibly difficult time. May her memory be a source of strength and blessing.

The video, produced by the Combat Antisemitism Movement, highlights the resilience of the hostages and their families, while urging the world to stand up for their release.

At a critical moment in history, with antisemitism levels soaring to unprecedented highs in the post-WWII era, more than 200 city leaders gathered in Southern California for the 2024 Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism.

In an impassioned call for action, CAM CEO Sacha Roytman shared the powerful story of his late Holocaust survivor grandfather, underscoring the continuity of the struggle against the world’s oldest and most persistent hatred and renewing the sacred vow of “Never Again.”

Legally targeting groups has always led to tragedy. As our CEO @sacharoytman writes in a recent @thejerusalem_post article, the Nazi regime’s Nuremberg Laws are a stark example of how legal systems can be weaponized against a people. From then to today, legal frameworks must protect, not persecute. We must stay vigilant to ensure justice is truly for all.
