The Combat Antisemitism Movement CAM works hand-in-hand with municipal authorities on a daily basis to secure and nurture Jewish life in cities across the globe.
As part of this program, CAM hosted a specialized virtual training session on Thursday for law enforcement and public safety officials in the city of Elyria, located near Cleveland in northeastern Ohio.
The seminar, led by CAM Chief Government Affairs Officer Lisa Katz, focused on teaching how to recognize and address antisemitism in its many contemporary forms and offered strategies and tools to counter it.
CAM is thankful to all the Elyria municipal officials who participated in the training session and grateful to Mayor Kevin Brubaker for his leadership and commitment to the collective effort against antisemitism.
“The fight against antisemitism and extremism cannot be won by legislation or speeches alone — it depends on the vigilance and courage of leaders like you, who stand on the front lines every day,” Katz said in her remarks. “When you act swiftly, fairly, and with clarity, you don’t just enforce the law — you reinforce trust, strengthen resilience, and remind everyone that hate has no home here.”
The training session included a presentation counter-extremism expert Mubin Shaikh, an Exit Peer Specialist for Parents for Peace and former Islamist radical himself.
Similar CAM-0rganized law enforcement training sessions have been held in Florida, New York and Virginia over the past year.
The 2025 North American Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism will be held on Dec. 2-4, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
