IBSI’s Dumisani Washington Speaks to Importance of Cultivating Black-Jewish Allyship
Last Wednesday, the Combat Antisemitism Movement hosted an engaging virtual conversation with Pastor Dumisani Washington, founder and CEO of the Institute for Black Solidarity With Israel (IBSI).
IBSI is dedicated to strengthening the bonds between the State of Israel, the Jewish people, and people of African descent.
Washington talked about the work of IBSI, which aims to cultivate Black-Jewish ties through educational and advocacy activities.
In his remarks, Washington recalled the history of Black-Jewish allyship, including during the civil rights movement of the 1960s, and also offered his take on the anti-Zionist ideology of the contemporary Black Lives Matter campaign, saying BLM activists are engaged in a “campaign of disinformation” to turn Black Americans against the Jewish state.

IBSI condemns the ideology that “Zionism is racism”; supports Israel’s right to live peacefully with its Arab neighbors; seeks to strengthen the Israel-Africa alliance; and spreads the truth about Israel, a diverse, multiethnic, and liberal democracy.
