GLOBAL ANTISEMITISM REPORT

THIS WEEK'S GLOBAL ANTISEMITISM REPORT

This week, we continued to monitor antisemitism around the world while advocating for more actions to be made.

Australia announced this week that Iran orchestrated two antisemitic arson attacks in Sydney and Melbourne last year, marking the latest abhorrent crime amid decades of malign activity by the Tehran regime.

Democratic governments must act decisively to protect their Jewish communities, strengthen their law enforcement and intelligence responses, and expose the networks of hate and disinformation that fuel antisemitism globally.

CAM stands ready to work with governments, security agencies, and civil society partners to confront this emerging threat head-on.

Shocking incidents of antisemitic violence, threats, and discrimination afflicted Jewish communities globally this week, particularly in Europe, where the ARC recorded 52 incidents – 42.3% of the 123 incidents documented this week.

Incidents include:

  • United Kingdom: A Jewish teenager in Bournemouth sustained a head wound after being shot with an airsoft rifle from a passing car on Saturday.
  • Germany: Three Jews in Frankfurt were hanging photos of the 50 remaining hostages on a fence in Grunburg Park when a masked woman threw red paint on them.
  • France: A manager of a leisure park in southern France denied entry to 150 Israeli children and teenagers last week. He now faces charges of religious discrimination.
  • Chile: Vandals defaced Bikur Cholim synagogue in Santiago with red spray paint and a graphic poster showing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a bullet hole in his forehead.

Australia: Protest Against 'Genocide' in Sydney

By Reuters and TOI Staff

Tens of thousands of Australians joined pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel rallies on Sunday, amid increasingly tense ties between Canberra and Jerusalem, with demonstrators calling for an end to the war in Gaza and sanctions on Israel. Tens of thousands of Australians joined pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel rallies on Sunday, amid increasingly tense ties between Canberra and Jerusalem, with demonstrators calling for an end to the war in Gaza and sanctions on Israel. Recent weeks have seen strained relations between Israel and Australia following the center-left government’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state and the revocation of an entry visa for Israeli far-right MK Simcha Rothman. More than 40 protests took place across Australia on Sunday, Palestine Action Group said, including large turnouts in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. The group said around 350,000 attended the rallies nationwide, including around 50,000 in Brisbane, though police estimated the numbers there at closer to 10,000. Police did not have estimates for crowd sizes in Sydney and Melbourne. 2/2 Skip in 4s The video player is currently playing an ad.
