GLOBAL ANTISEMITISM REPORT
THIS WEEK'S GLOBAL ANTISEMITISM REPORT
This week, we continued to monitor antisemitism around the world while advocating for more actions to be made.
Our hearts break for the victims of yesterday’s terrorist attack in New Orleans and their families. Just a few weeks ago, Mayor LaToya Cantrell stood with unwavering courage at the CAM Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism declaring that hatred and extremism must be confronted with the strongest resolve. The entire world should rally behind her and stand in solidarity with New Orleans as we combat and work to eradicate the ideologies that fuel such atrocities.
As Jewish communities across the globe celebrated Hanukkah this past week, antisemites laid bare their implacable bigotry by defacing menorah displays and targeting Jewish worshippers worldwide. According to research compiled in the most recent Global Antisemitism Report, 11 incidents targeting public menorah displays or Hanukkah celebrations occurred this week globally, including in Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States.
Those who perpetrate such crimes might follow in the footsteps of the Seleucid Empire and its attempts to quash Jewish faith, traditions, and freedom, but like the Maccabees, today’s proud Jews and their allies bravely fight back. We are proud to lead the battle against Jew-hatred, including in South America this week, where the CAM en Español team participated in several prominent Hanukkah celebrations organized by its partners in Uruguay.
On Sunday, a special philanthropy gala, marking the fifth night of Hanukkah, was held in Tel Aviv to honor the dozens of Israeli organizations and projects supported by CAM in the aftermath of the October 7th massacre.
We wish all of our followers and supporters a Happy New Year. As antisemitism in the post-October 7 world continues, we pledge to fight back with as much tenacity this year as we did in 2024. Thank you for your continued support.
