Anti-Semitic Student Sworn in as New Senate President at Florida State University
According to The Algemeiner, the new Student Senate president at Florida State University has previously made racist and anti-Semitic comments online, such as comparing Israel to Nazi Germany.
The Palestinian-American student, Ahmad Daraldik, recently replaced the former president of the Student Senate who was expelled for expressing conservative Catholic views. After Daraldik became the new president, it was revealed that he had made several anti-Semitic statements online such as “stupid Jew” and “f**k Israel.”
Daraldik now claims he is being “defamed” because “I expressed my frustrations with a racist system that continues to commit human rights violations and was created through the genocide of my people.”
However, a web page belonging to Daraldik minimizes the Holocaust, and compares Israel to Nazi Germany. Both statements are considered anti-Semitic under the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition adopted by the US and many countries around the world. On his website, Daraldik writes about “the contemporary Holocaust imposed upon the Palestinian people,” and displays a montage with Nazi imagery alongside Palestinians. Additionally he traffics in “Blood Libel” by repeating the bogus claim that Israel harvests the organs of Palestinians, while siting dubious sources to make it appear as academic research.
He also claims Israel was taken away from the Jewish people because they violated the commandments of the Torah and that the Judaism forbids establishing a Jewish state, repeating a belief of extremist fringe anti-Zionist sects.
A petition is circulating calling for his removal on the grounds that Daraldik “made anti-Semitic remarks in multiple social media posts.”
