U of Washington Student Group Celebrates October 7th Massacre as ‘Victory’ in Pro-Terror ‘Teach-In’

A student organization at the University of Washington in Seattle is holding an off-campus event celebrating Hamas’s October 7th massacre as a “victory” for the Palestinian cause.

The group, Students United for Palestinian Equality and Return (SUPER UW), announced a “teach-in” titled “The Right to Resist: Al-Aqsa Flood and Armed Resistance.” The event will promote “Palestinian struggle and resistance.”

An Instagram post invites participants to “commemorate the Al-Aqsa Flood as a victory” and discuss how to “support the Palestinian struggle” both in the Middle East and locally.

On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists invaded Israel, murdering more than 1,200 people and kidnapping over 250 others. The attack targeted babies, women, and the elderly. Describing this atrocity as “resistance” exposes a growing normalization of terror on U.S. campuses.

Partnerships With Groups Linked to Terror Networks

SUPER UW is hosting the event with Tariq el-Tahrir, the youth wing of Masar Badil, also known as the Palestinian Alternative Revolutionary Path Movement. Masar Badil has close ties to the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network.

In October 2023, the U.S. government sanctioned Samidoun for acting as a “sham charity” for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) — a designated terrorist organization.

A recent video shared by SUPER UW featured Charlotte Kates, Samidoun’s international coordinator, confirming that Samidoun and Masar Badil are part of the same “political project.” Kates’s husband, Khaled Barakat, leads Masar Badil and has long been identified as a PFLP operative.

SUPER UW’s social media links directly to Masar Badil and Tariq el-Tahrir. It has hosted several figures connected to Samidoun, including Mohammed Khatib, Samidoun Europe’s coordinator and a known PFLP agent, who appeared in an April 25 event.

History of Extremism in Seattle’s Student Circles

SUPER UW’s ties to extremist networks go beyond a single event. Reports show that several activists in the Seattle branch of Samidoun — launched in April 2023 — are also part of SUPER UW.

Both groups took part in an October 7 “walk-out” organized by the Puget Sound Revolutionary Student Union, where demonstrators carried signs reading “Long Live October 7.” The slogan was popularized by Charlotte Kates, who frequently appears at regional protests.

This activity is not political expression — it is open glorification of terrorism. By celebrating violence against Jews, these groups echo Hamas’s rhetoric and amplify antisemitic propaganda within American universities.

Growing Concern Over Campus Antisemitism

The University of Washington event mirrors a nationwide surge in antisemitism on college campuses since October 7. Jewish students have faced harassment and fear while extremist groups frame Hamas’s massacre as “resistance.”

The U.S. Department of Education has opened several civil rights investigations into antisemitic incidents at universities across the country. The University of Washington event adds to this alarming pattern, revealing a moral collapse within parts of academia.

Celebrating mass murder as a “victory” crosses every line of decency. Universities, lawmakers, and the public must draw a firm boundary between legitimate debate and advocacy for terror.
