Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) President of U.S. Affairs Alyza Lewin issued the following statement on Wednesday morning upon the conclusion of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s confirmation hearing on the nomination of Rabbi Yehuda Kaploun to serve as the next U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism:
“The Combat Antisemitism Movement commends Rabbi Yehuda Kaploun for his thoughtful and personal testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee today. At a moment when antisemitism is rising across the United States and around the world, it is essential that our nation have an empowered Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism. Rabbi Kaploun’s testimony emphasized the urgency of this moment and the need for strong, consistent, and bipartisan leadership to confront Jew-hatred in all its forms and educate the world to respect one another.”
“Rabbi Kaploun has demonstrated a clear commitment to working across political, civic, and faith communities to advance practical solutions and to ensure that this critical role continues to unite Americans around shared values of safety, dignity, and equal rights for Jewish communities. His explicit support for the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism, the internationally recognized, consensus framework endorsed by the U.S. government and hundreds of institutions worldwide, further reflects his readiness to address contemporary antisemitism comprehensively and with moral clarity.”
“We reaffirm our letter dated August 26, 2025 to U.S. Senate leadership (attached), wherein, together with more than a dozen other national Jewish organizations, Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) expressed the ‘high priority’ in which we place confirming a nominee to the SEAS position.”
“We go further today in CAM expressing our unqualified support for Rabbi Kaploun to serve in the SEAS role.”
