The Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) issued the following statement on Friday, ahead of the first anniversary of the October 7th massacre in Israel:
“October 7th stands as a solemn day marking the worst attack against Jews since the Holocaust. It should be a time for unity and remembrance — not an occasion for perpetuating the very hatred that led to this tragedy. Unfortunately, organizations like Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) are organizing demonstrations on campuses instead, which risk inflaming tensions and detracting from the need for reflection and healing.”
“As we approach this significant anniversary, we call on university administrations across North America to remain vigilant and take decisive action to prevent on-campus events that glorify terrorism or incite violence against Jews. Such expressions have no place in academic institutions. We also urge law enforcement agencies to bolster security at Jewish institutions and memorial events during this period.”
