Meet Our Partner: Hindu American Foundation
Established in 2003, the Hindu American Foundation (HAF) is an advocacy organization focused on educating the public about Hinduism and the world’s 1.2 billion Hindus and promoting policies and practices that ensure the well-being of all people and the planet.
The independent, non-profit group — based in Washington, D.C. — works with individuals and institutions committed to and constructively engaged in promoting dignity, mutual respect, and pluralism.
“We raise awareness of the positive contributions of Hindus on the North American continent,” the Hindu American Foundation’s California Advocacy Director Easan Katir said.
Referring to Hindu-Jewish relations, Katir commented, “The things that we have in common, we each have about a 5,000-year history, we’ve resisted colonization, we’ve resisted conversion, and we share a love of temples, food, family, and intellectual achievement, so we have a lot of things we can talk about together.”
