A special Rosh Hashanah message from Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) CEO Sacha Roytman:

With Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, upon us, I extend heartfelt greetings to you and your loved ones. May the coming year, 5786, be one of resilience, renewal, and peace for us all. Shanah Tovah U’Metukah — I wish you a good and sweet year!

Across the globe, we are witnessing an ongoing surge of antisemitism—on our streets, in our communities, and amplified in online spaces. Jews are facing intimidation, harassment, and violence at levels not seen since the Second World War. Once again, the Jewish people are being tested, like our ancestors over the ages.

In Israel, we continue to face a war imposed by brutal enemies, almost two years after the horrors of October 7th. We mourn our losses, pray for the return of our hostages still held in Gaza, and look forward to a day when we can live in security and peace.

More than two millennia ago, the Maccabees — few in number, but strong in faith — rose to defend their people and their future against a mighty empire that sought to erase Judaism. Their bravery and devotion preserved Jewish identity and faith, laying the foundation for generations to come. They remind us that Jewish resilience is not just history; it is alive in every generation. Today, too, we see modern-day Maccabees who, despite intimidation and hate, proudly live their identity, speak the truth, and carry our heritage forward with courage.

And we are not alone. During the Holocaust, the “Righteous Among the Nations” — non-Jews who risked their lives to save Jews from extermination — stood by our people in humanity’s darkest hour. Today we are blessed with allies of all backgrounds — faith leaders, public officials, educators, and neighbors — who refuse to be silent in the face of antisemitism.

At CAM, we are honored to partner with both the modern Maccabees and the modern Righteous. Together, we are building coalitions, educating policymakers, working with leaders, and mobilizing grassroots activism. Step by step, action by action, we are writing a story of hope that future generations will remember.

Jews in both Israel and the Diaspora refuse to bow to fear, proudly living our identities, carrying on our heritage, and speaking for the truth. The spirit of perseverance and unity that has held the Jewish people together for millennia remains alive in this generation, forging the next link in the chain of Jewish existence.

As Rosh Hashanah approaches, I invite you to join this impactful movement. Your support will strengthen the hands of those on the front lines of combating antisemitism, empower courageous voices who refuse to be silenced, and ensure that Jewish life and identity continue to thrive in the face of hate.

May the blast of the shofar stir within us a reinvigorated commitment to our common cause. Shana Tova!
